>> REGISTERED COMPANIES
As on 31st March, 2022, the total number of companies registered in India was 23,18,063.
Out of the 23,18,063 registered companies:
• 14,38,045 were active companies,
• 8,25,771 companies were closed,
• 2,382 companies were assigned dormant status as per Section 455 of the Companies Act, 2013,
• 7,012 were under liquidation, and
• 44,853 companies were in the process of being struck-off.
>> ACTIVE COMPANIES
As on 31st March, 2022, the total number of active companies in India was 14,38,045.
Out of the 14,38,045 active companies:
• 14,28,372 were limited by shares,
• 9,376 were limited by guarantee, and
• 297 were unlimited companies.
Out of the 14,38,045 active companies:
• 69,790 were public limited companies, and
• 13,68,255 were private limited companies.
Among the private limited companies, 43,024 were one person companies (OPCs).
Among the public limited companies, 6,758 were listed companies.
Out of the total active companies, 2,204 were Government companies.
>> STATE-WISE ACTIVE COMPANIES
Following is the state-wise total number of active companies as on 31st March, 2022:—
>> FOREIGN COMPANY
As on 31st March, 2022, out of the total 5,051 registered foreign companies in India — 65% were active foreign companies.
During the financial year 2021-22, 58 new foreign companies were registered.
