Section 23 (Power of Supreme Court and High Courts to make rules) of Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 —

❝The Supreme Court or, as the case may be, any High Court, may make rules, not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, providing for any matter relating to its procedure.❞

The Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 was amended by:
- the Contempt of Courts (Amendment) Act, 1976 (No. 45 of 1976);
- the Contempt of Courts (Amendment) Act, 2006 (No. 06 of 2006).
