Section 14AB, EPF & MP Act 1952: Certain Offences to be Cognizable

Section 14AB (Certain offences to be cognizable) of the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952

❝Notwithstanding anything contained in the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (5 of 1898) an offence relating to default in payment of contribution by the employer punishable under this Act shall be cognizable.❞

Notes:

The Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 has been amended several times since its enactment.
The last two amendments were by the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions (Amendment) Act, 1998 (Act No. 10 of 1998) and the Finance Act, 2017 (Act No. 7 of 2017).
