Section 20B of the Specific Relief Act 1963: Special Courts

Section 20B (Special Courts) under Chapter II "Substituted performance of contracts, etc." of Part II (Specific Relief) of the Specific Relief Act, 1963

❝The State Government, in consultation with the Chief Justice of the High Court, shall designate, by notification published in the Official Gazette, one or more Civil Courts as Special Courts, within the local limits of the area to exercise jurisdiction and to try a suit under this Act in respect of contracts relating to infrastructure projects.❞

Notes:

The Specific Relief Act, 1963 was amended by from time to time by:
- the Repealing and Amending Act, 1964 (Act No. 52 of 1964);
- the Repealing and Amending Act, 1974 (Act No. 56 of 1974);
- the Specific Relief (Amendment) Act, 2018 (Act No. 18 of 2018).
