Section 18A, Consumer Protection Act 1986: Vacancy In Office Of President

Section 18A (Vacancy in the office of the President) under Chapter III (Consumer Disputes Redressal Agencies) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, is reproduced hereunder:—

When the office of the President of the District Forum or of the State Commission, as the case may be, is vacant or when any such President is, by reason of absence or otherwise, unable lo perform the duties of his office, the duties of the office shall be performed by such person, who is qualified to be appointed as President of the District Forum or, as the case may be, of the State Commission, as the State Government may appoint for the purpose.

(1) Section 18A was inserted by the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act, 1991 (Act No. 34 of 1991), sec. 3, (w.e.f. 15-Jun-1991).

(2) Section 18A was OMITTED by the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act, 2002 (Act No. 62 of 2002), sec. 15, (w.e.f. 15-Mar-2003).
