Section 18, Consumer Protection Act 1986: Procedure Applicable To State Commissions

Section 18 (Procedure applicable to State Commissions) under Chapter III (Consumer Disputes Redressal Agencies) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, is reproduced hereunder:—

The provisions of sections 12, 13 and 14 and the rules made thereunder for the disposal of complaints by the District Forum shall, with such modifications as may be necessary, be applicable to the disposal of disputes by the State Commission.




Extra Notes for Readers

(1) In section 18, the words and figures "The provisions of sections 12, 13 and 14 and the rules made thereunder" were substituted for the words and figures "The procedure specified in sections 12, 13 and 14 and under the rules made thereunder" by the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act, 2002 (Act No. 62 of 2002), sec. 15, (w.e.f. 15-Mar-2003).
