Draft Rules To Amend Rule 41 Of The Beedi Workers Welfare Fund Rules, 1978

Feb 19, 2018: Ministry of Labour and Employment's Notification.— Whereas, draft of certain rules further to amend Rule 41 of the Beedi Workers Welfare Fund Rules, 1978, is hereby published for the information of all persons likely to be affected hereby; and notice is hereby given that the said draft rules will be taken into consideration after the expiry of a period of thirty days from the date on which the copies of the Official Gazette in this this notification is published are made available to the public;

Objections and suggestions, if any, may be addressed to the Joint Secretary to the Government of India -cum- Director General (Labour Welfare), Jaisalmer House, 26, Man Singh Road, New Delhi-110011;


The objections and suggestions, which may be received from any person with respect to said draft rules before the expiry of the period specified above, will be considered by the Central Government.

Draft rules

1. (1) These rules may be called the Beedi Workers Welfare Fund Central Amendment Rules, 2017.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Beedi Workers Welfare Fund Rules,1978 for rule 41, the following rule shall be substituted, namely:-

Rule 41 (1) the owner of an establishment factory or contractor engaged in the manufacture of beedis shall issue to every employee an identity card in Form ‘E’ on which a photograph of the workers would also be fixed.

(1)(a) which states “the Welfare Commissioner or any other officer authorized by the Welfare Commissioner may issue identity card to such employee after satisfying himself about the correctness of the facts”.
