The Companies (Amendment) Act, 2017 Received The Assent Of The President On Jan 03, 2018

The Companies (Amendment) Act, 2017 received the assent of the President on the 3rd January, 2018, and was notified by the Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department) in the Extraordinary Gazette of India dated 3rd January, 2018.

The Companies (Amendment) Act, 2017 shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act and any reference in any provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that provision.

Note: The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2017 was introduced in Lok Sabha on 16th March, 2016. It was then referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance for examination and report. The Committee had presented its report on the Bill to Both Houses on 7th December, 2016. Then, on 27th July, 2017, the Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha as Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2017. It was then referred to Rajya Sabha for consideration and passing. Later, it was passed by Rajya Sabha on 19th December, 2017.
