But what makes a marketing plan strong? It’s the details, of course. If you want to make the most out of your marketing strategy, you should consider these 8 key elements while crafting your very own marketing plan.

1. Do a proper market research

No matter how much time you spend on your research, it would worth every minute. Research allows you to set realistic expectations and to base your strategy on specific data instead of suggestions.

Here’s what you need to identify during your market research:

- the buying habits common to the industry;
- the size of the market;
- the current tendencies: is the market declining or growing right now?
- the current trends.

2. Make sure you know your target audience

Knowing who will most likely buy your products or service can help you tailor your future marketing strategies to them. However, sometimes it’s not one audience we’re talking about - it can be segmented as well to make your business strategies even more efficient. This won’t simply make you as prepared as possible - this will also help you set realistic goals and deadlines. 

7. Don’t forget about the budget

The best way to cover your budget in your marketing plan is by developing a month-by-month schedule. Include every area and activity you’re going to invest in - and don’t forget about some «red light» point as well.

This point would be a metric you’re going to set for each activity. If you won’t get any sufficient ROI from the activity, you’ll stop investing into it once the budget for it reaches this point.

8. Monitor the results

While a marketing strategy might look strong and impressive right from the start, it’s still important to return to it later, updating according to the latest trends and changes, and adjusting if something goes wrong.

Monitoring the results is the best way to see whether a marketing plan is indeed effective - and to adjust it quickly if it turns out that it’s not effective enough. Use the customer feedback (surveys, blogs, online polls, etc.) to find out which strategies are effective and which aren’t.
