Number of Cases pending in Indian Courts

Indian Courts are packed with cases pending from different Sectors, be it Civil cases or Criminal cases or newly evolved Cyber cases. Though to expedite the disposal of pending cases the Government is taking up some measures, but with the growing variety of the cases arising every day, the number of pending cases still seems to be not coming down at all instead increasing day by day.

Statistics of Pending Cases in India - At the end of 31-03-2012
In Supreme Court of India, the matters pending at the end of 30-03-2012 is 59,816 (if connected matters are excluded the pendency is only 34,066), out of which Civil Cases are 48,743 and Criminal Cases are 11,073. Out of 59,816 pending cases, the cases pending for more than one year is 39,356.

In High Courts of India the number of cases pending at the end of 31-03-2012 is as below:

Statistics of Pending Cases in India - At the end of 31-03-2013 

In Supreme Court of India, the matters pending at the end of 30-03-2013 is 67,320 (if connected matters are excluded the pendency is only 38,048), out of which Civil Cases are 54,953 and Criminal Cases are 12,367. Out of 67,320 pending cases, the cases pending for more than one year is 45,746.

In High Courts of India the number of cases pending at the end of 31-03-2013 is as below:
